Carnival Names Next Two Ships and Reveals Plans for Mega-Vessels

Carnival Cruise Line has announced the names of its next two ships: Carnival Festivale, set to debut in 2027, and Carnival Tropicale, arriving in 2028.

The reveal came from Carnival President Christine Duffy during an event aboard Carnival Celebration last weekend.

In addition to unveiling the new ship names, Duffy shared that the next three ships after Tropicale will be significantly larger, each designed to accommodate up to 8,000 passengers. The first of these mega-ships is expected to launch in 2029.

Carnival Festivale and Carnival Tropicale will follow the popular Excel Class design but will introduce several fresh features. Notably, the Bolt rollercoaster, found on earlier Excel ships, will be replaced by a sprawling three-deck family waterpark called Sunsation Point.

Another change is the removal of the Family Harbor area. Instead, each ship will offer 1,000 interconnecting cabins—a 70% increase over previous models—enhancing flexibility for families and groups.

Carnival has also hinted at new dining concepts and venues, which will be announced closer to the ships’ launch dates.
