Germany has joined other European countries and decided to ban most travellers from UK, to try to slow the spread of the Omicron variant.
The ban will not apply to German residents, however, they must show a negative test and undertake a 14 day period of quarantine – without exception, even if vaccinated.
The measures are already in place. Germany follows in the footsteps of France, who have already put into place travel restrictions on UK travellers as cases rise in the UK.
The Robert-Koch-Institut (RKI) – a federal health agency – announced the new rules as it classified the UK as a virus variant area of concern, the highest Covid risk level.
Germany have also added other countries to the ban list with the UK. These include: France, Denmark, Norway & Lebanon.
