Royal Caribbean has officially announced the name of its next Icon Class ship—Legend of the Seas—set to debut in Aug 2026 in Europe. This highly anticipated vessel will be the third in the Icon Class, following the groundbreaking Icon of the Seas and the soon-to-launch Star of the Seas. Notably, it will also be the first Icon Class ship to make its debut in Europe.
Maiden Voyage & European Itineraries 
Legend of the Seas will set sail from Barcelona on its maiden voyage, offering seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises. Guests will have the chance to explore Spain, France, and Italy, experiencing some of Europe’s most iconic coastal cities and cultural landmarks.
Royal Caribbean’s Chief Marketing Officer, Kara Wallace, emphasized the significance of launching an Icon Class ship in Europe:
“Icon’s been so successful, and we know our guests around the world—especially in Europe—have been waiting and asking when they’ll get their opportunity to experience an Icon Class ship.”
Winter in the Caribbean 
After spending the summer cruising through the Mediterranean, Legend of the Seas will relocate to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in November 2026. From there, it will offer:

A Name with History & Meaning 
If the name Legend of the Seas sounds familiar, that’s because Royal Caribbean previously had a ship with the same name. The original Legend of the Seas, a Vision Class ship, launched 30 years ago in 1995. It was later sold to Marella Cruises in 2017 and renamed Marella Discovery.
Speaking on the name choice, Kara Wallace explained:
“The Icon Class as a name really sets a high bar… so we needed a third name that truly fit. ‘Legend’ is not only fitting of the class but also pays homage to everything that came before it.”
