Jet2 has issued a travel delay warning to all passengers flying from East Midlands Airport between Wednesday 7 and Monday 12 June.
The budget airline advised holidaymakers to allocate ample time for their journeys to the airport, as heavy traffic is expected in the vicinity due to the sold-out Download Music Festival taking place at Donington Park during the same period.
The Download Music Festival, celebrating its 20th anniversary, will feature headline performances by renowned rock and metal acts such as Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon, and Metallica. The festival will showcase more than 60 other UK and international rock and metal artists.
Jet2 urged passengers to plan their routes in advance and allow extra time for travel to the airport, particularly on Wednesday 7th, Thursday 8th, Friday 9th, and Monday 12th June. Passengers traveling by public transport were advised to check for any changes to their journey times. Jet2 assured passengers that all their flights would operate as scheduled, with check-in closing 40 minutes prior to departure.
Separately, Jet2 also alerted passengers traveling to and from Spain to be aware of ongoing strike action by Swissport Ground Handling. The strike, affecting airports in Barcelona, Lanzarote (Arrecife), Almeria, and Reus, could result in delays. Passengers were advised to arrive at least two hours before their flight’s departure time and were assured that efforts would be made to minimize any disruption caused by the strike.
Jet2 remains committed to providing a smooth travel experience for its passengers despite these potential challenges.
