A Charming Colonial Retreat: Wora Bura Hua Hin Hotel Review

This is a travel agent’s review of Wora Bura Hua Hin Hotel, a delightful colonial-style resort located in the picturesque seaside town of Hua Hin. This article takes you on a tour of the hotel’s stunning architecture, highlights its prime location, and explores the amenities and services it offers.

Location and Accessibility:

Wora Bura Hua Hin Hotel is conveniently situated right on the beach in Hua Hin, surrounded by other resorts, restaurants, and bars. Its prime location offers guests easy access to the vibrant seaside atmosphere. The main road is just a short 15-minute walk away, and popular attractions like Vana Nava Hua Hin Water Jungle and Sam Phan Nam Floating Market are within easy reach by car. Nature enthusiasts will also appreciate the proximity to the enchanting Pa La-U Waterfall.

First Impressions:
After a prolonged stay in bustling Bangkok, I was eagerly anticipating a tranquil escape at Wora Bura Hua Hin Hotel. The moment I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the immediate sense of relaxation and serenity that washed over me.The reception area greeted me with its breathtaking beauty and airy ambiance, instantly setting the tone for a peaceful retreat. The open space and thoughtful design created an inviting and serene atmosphere that immediately put me at ease. The combination of natural light, soft colours, and elegant decor added to the overall sense of tranquillity.

Rooms:

The hotel features a range of high-end colonial-style rooms, each meticulously designed with dark-wood accents and furnished terraces. The elegant decor includes dark hardwood floors, off-white walls with wood accents, and tasteful vintage-inspired furnishings. Guests can enjoy lovely views of the sprawling gardens from their furnished balconies or terraces. The rooms are equipped with modern amenities, such as flat-screen TVs, safes, free Wi-Fi, minibars, and coffee- and tea-making facilities. The bathrooms follow the same stylish decor scheme and offer spacious countertops, vessel sinks, walk-in rainfall showers, and separate soaking tubs.

As someone who typically gravitates towards minimalist decor, I approached Wora Bura Hua Hin Hotel with a touch of hesitation. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that my initial reservations melted away as I found myself falling in love with the hotel’s colonial design. There was an undeniable charm in the intricate details and nostalgic elements. The blend of dark wood accents, tasteful furniture, and vintage-inspired pieces created a timeless ambience that exuded a sense of elegance and sophistication. It was a delightful departure from my usual minimalist leanings and a testament to the hotel’s commitment to preserving the rich heritage of the region. My only complaint about the room was lack of plug sockets for my many devices, but when away to unwind I suppose this isn’t the end of the world.

Features:

Wora Bura Hua Hin Hotel offers an array of amenities to ensure a memorable stay. Guests can choose to relax by the large lagoon pool, which overlooks the beach and features a blue-tile bottom, fountains, and plush lounge chairs. For dining, the Chulamongkut Restaurant serves a delicious international buffet breakfast, receiving rave reviews from past guests. The Rak Talay restaurant offers a variety of Thai and international dishes, including fresh seafood, in a scenic al fresco terrace setting. The fitness centre provides modern cardio equipment, free weights, and a resistance training machine, all set in a beautiful space with garden views. The hotel’s spa offers a range of Thai and Western massage modality. Unfortunately, they were priced a little out of my budget so I couldn’t indulge. Families will appreciate the colourful kids’ club, offering engaging activities throughout the day. The property also features a library with a guest computer, meeting space for up to 300 people, and free on-site parking.

Breakfast:
At Wora Bura Hua Hin Hotel, the breakfast offerings provided a decent selection of dishes, catering to both Western and Asian preferences. While the freshly made omelettes stood out as a delicious highlight, the overall quality and temperature consistency of the other breakfast items left areas for improvement. I have very recently stayed in other 5-star hotels that may have set too high expectations, as many other guests comment on booking.com that they were happy with the breakfast offering.

A few more tips…

  • The hotel offers a shuttle to the centre but if you download the Grab App you can take a car for around 80 baht or a mototaxi for around 40 baht.
  • Book in for dinner at the neighbouring beachfront restaurant Let’s Sea Al Fresco Resort – dinner here was the ultimate highlight of my Hua Hin trip.
  • If staying for a short stay try and make it at weekend so you can visit the Cicada Night Market. I have heard so many good things about this but I missed out as I didn’t stay over a weekend.
  • If you walk to the main road from the hotel (15 mins) – there are many massage shops that offer excellent massages from 300 baht.
