Cambodia $3000 dollar entry fee.

It has been reported in the Bangkok Post that from the 16th of June, travellers to the popular South East Asia travel hotspot Cambodia will be required to leave a $3000 deposit in addition to having travel insurance cover of $50000 as a “Coronavirus service charge”.

It isn’t the case that at the end of travel you will simply receive the “deposit” back – reductions will be made as follows:

  • $5 transportation fee – this will cover the cost of taking your from the airport you arrive at in Cambodia to a covid testing site.
  • $100 for a Covid test – to see if you are a carrier of the virus.
  • $30 for an overnight stay whilst you wait for the result of your test.
  • $30 to cover meals whilst you wait.
  • 15$ Laundry costs
  • $8 Medical & Security Surveillance.

If any one passenger from the flight tests positive, further costs will be taken to quarantine the whole passenger list. If the flight is confirmed completely covid free, then travellers will still have to self isolate for 14 days and report back on day 13 for further testing.

Cambodia received around 6.2 million tourists in 2018, mainly to the capital Phnom Penh and the temple hotspot of Siem Reap.
