easyJet has announced the launch of two new year-round routes from Southampton to Belfast and Glasgow, scheduled to commence operation this winter.
Flights to Belfast International Airport will begin on October 29, 2023, with departures three times a week on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays. The Glasgow flights will take off from November 2, 2023, and will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, expressed enthusiasm for the new routes, stating, “We’re delighted to announce this new route today from Glasgow to Southampton, which will provide customers in Scotland with even greater connectivity across the UK. This enables people to explore more of the fantastic destinations the UK has to offer, reconnect with loved ones, and conduct business.”
Matt Hazelwood, Chief Commercial Officer at AGS Airports, the owner of Southampton Airport, also welcomed the news, highlighting the increased options and flexibility it would bring to passengers in the Southampton and Central South region.
The new easyJet services from Southampton will complement the existing daily flights to Glasgow operated by Loganair and the daily flights to George Best Belfast City Airport operated by Aer Lingus. The Belfast route will be served by an easyJet A320 aircraft with 186 seats, while the Glasgow service will utilize an A319 aircraft with 156 seats.
