After receiving a lot of pressure from the business community, Hong Kong has started the process of opening up its borders.
A complete blanket ban on flights from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, India, Pakistan, Nepal and the Philippines will end on 01st April 2022.
There will still be a hotel quarantine in place, but this will be reduced down to 7 nights, previously it was 14.
The current very strict social-distancing measures will also be eased allowing restaurant dinning after 18:00 once again.
Although the number of Covid-19 cases has increased in recent weeks, officials have begun to acknowledge the damage that the absolutist approach to controlling the epidemic has caused.
Banks and the broader population, which has endured more than two years of effectively closed borders, have reportedly urged the move.
