Spain has announced that from 24th May 2021, travellers from the UK will be able to enter the country without the need to provide a negative PCR covid test or any self isolation rules.
However, Spain remains on the UK amber list, meaning that travel to the country for leisure purposes is discouraged and anyone that does travel will have to isolate on their return, as well as take in total 4 tests to travel (One pre departure, one in resort and two on return to the UK).
Spain are hoping to join the UK green list alongside Portugal, to welcome Brits back into their many tourist resorts.
The changes to the current green list, are set to take place from the 28th June.
The EU this week agreed it would allow vaccinated non-EU holidaymakers to visit EU members this summer, but has not yet confirmed this will include the UK.
Ryanair have announced that they have seen a massive surge in bookings to Spain, with travellers hopeful that by the summer it will be included on the green list.Most UK travel companies are not offering any holiday packages to Spain until late on in the summer season, with several holiday companies (such as On the beach), deciding not to sell any packages until September onwards.
Currently holiday makers can only realistically travel to Portugal (including Madeira) for a holiday, however due to limited availability holiday prices are much higher than they would typically be at this time of year. Travellers will also have to budget for 3 covid tests to enable travel.
Easyjet holidays and Jet 2 have some availability on last minute deals to Portugal.
