TAP Portugal brings back Stopovers

TAP Air Portugal has reintroduced its Stopover scheme to allow customers a stop over in either Lisbon or Porto.

The stopover feature is free of charge (for stays under 10 nights) – and is available to book on selected routes either on the outbound or return journey.

A Lisbon stopover is the most popular destination for a stop over in Europe.

The scheme has been brought back in partnership with Turismo de Portugal. It enables customers to stopover in Portugal for up to 10 days, and grants access to 290 exclusive offers and discounts across 115 hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences and tour partners before they continue on to their final destination.

TAP connects Europe to 11 cities in Brazil from its Lisbon hub, flying to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belém, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Natal, Maceió, Porto Alegre, Recife and Salvador. The airline also connects Porto with São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

TAP Portugal carrier also offers scores of long-haul services to some of most popular destinations across Africa and the Americas, including Accra, Boston, Cancun, San Francisco and Toronto.

TAP operates from three UK destinations – London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester – as well as offering flights from the Irish capital, Dublin.

The stop over is also available on one way trips (should you wish to fly direct on the non stopover leg).

To take advantage of this stopover scheme you must book direct with TAP Portugal.

The Portugal Stopover is an online product that is available through the main page of flytap.com, in the main menu or below in the flight search, by clicking on the Stopover option. It is also possible to perform a flight search and, as long as the route is eligible, a banner will appear informing the Client that this product is available.

An Example Stop Over trip using the TAP stopover scheme

2 nights in Lisbon, Portugal and 5 nights in Toronto, Canada.

Hotel

2 nights @ Empire Lisbon Hotel

5 nights @ Holiday Inn Toronto Downtown

Approx total cost for flights and hotel – £1650 per person – based on 2 sharing. We spotted this same route would be around £400 cheaper with Aer Lingus but it would mean flying via Dublin on all sectors.

Please note — *Prices are correct at time of publishing, based on the sample dates provided and are subject to fluctuation, depending on availability. Inventory may be limited. Special T&C’s may apply. *The above prices do not include city / tourist taxes that are / may be payable at the hotel.

How easy is it to book a stopover with TAP portugal?

To book a stopover you simply click the “add a stopover” button as you search for your flights. It then asks you on which direction you want it, which city, and how many nights.

It is very straightforward – but if there is no stopover available for those dates, it doesn’t offer alternatives you have to repeat the whole process again.
