Travel Update from TUI re Water Supply issues on Cape Verde:
CAPE VERDE – Hotel Water Supply Issues (Sal)
I’ve heard there are water supply issues at several hotels in Cape Verde. I’m due to travel there in the next few days—what’s the situation?
We can confirm that public water supplies are currently disrupted at Melia Dunas Beach Resort and TUI Suneo Dunas, both located on the island of Sal. The disruption began on the morning of Tuesday, 11th February, and unfortunately, it remains ongoing. At this time, there is no confirmed date for the full restoration of water services, but we do not expect it to be resolved before 21st February 2025.
Given this uncertainty, we have made the difficult decision to cancel holidays to these two hotels for departures from Wednesday, 12th February, up to and including Friday, 21st February. If your travel plans are affected, we are offering the following options:
Rebook fee-free to any alternative holiday currently on sale. If your new holiday is more expensive, we will offer up to a 10% rebooking incentive. If your new holiday is cheaper, you will receive a refund for the difference.
OR Cancel your booking and receive a full refund, along with £100 compensation per person.
We are closely monitoring the situation. For customers due to travel to these hotels from Saturday, 22nd February onwards, we will provide further updates as soon as possible.
Melia Llana & TUI BLUE Cabo Verde – Water Supply Update
The Melia Llana and TUI BLUE Cabo Verde hotels are not connected to the main public water supplier but have still been experiencing supply disruptions. The water supply has now resumed following the repair of a leak. However, water will be limited from late morning to early evening and overnight from 23:00. This restriction could continue until 21st February 2025.
During this period:
- Public restroom facilities are expected to operate as normal.
- Additional bottled water is being provided for guests.
Customers due to travel to Melia Llana or TUI BLUE Cabo Verde from Wednesday, 19th February, to Friday, 21st February, may still proceed with their holiday as planned. However, if you prefer to make changes, we are offering the same options:
Rebook fee-free to any alternative holiday currently on sale. If your new holiday is more expensive, we will offer up to a 10% rebooking incentive. If your new holiday is cheaper, you will receive a refund for the difference.
OR Cancel your booking and receive a full refund, along with £100 compensation per person.
We are continuing to monitor the situation, and for customers travelling from Saturday, 22nd February onwards, we will provide updates as soon as possible.
