Alex Flach, UK development director for Whitbread, has stated that Premier Inn is currently looking to secure new properties in more than 160 locations in the UK and Ireland.
The budget hotel chain added 11 new properties to its UK portfolio in the past 12 months. Two notable new locations being Canary Wharf and Paddington Basin.
Alex Flach, said the openings showed how active Premier Inn has been in opening new hotels after identifying “market potential” to increase from its current 82,000 rooms up to 125,000 rooms in the UK and Ireland.
As a comparison, Travelodge currently has around 40,000 rooms in around 590 hotels.
New Premier Inn hotels currently in the making include a vacant office block in Cambridge, the fourth Premier Inn in the city.
