Jet2 Flight Forced Back to Manchester

A Jet2 holiday flight destined for Gran Canaria had to turn back and return to Manchester Airport this evening. The Boeing 757-200 departed from Manchester at 6:41 pm, but shortly after takeoff, the captain made the decision to abort the trip. The aircraft then flew west over Wales, maintaining a holding pattern, before finally heading back to Manchester. Flight LS781 successfully landed at Manchester Airport just before 9 pm.

During the flight, the jet cruised at an altitude of approximately 16,000 feet over the west coast of Wales, extending the total duration to over two hours since its initial departure from Manchester.

As per standard procedure, the aircraft burned fuel to achieve the appropriate weight for landing. The airline responded to inquiries from plane-spotters on Twitter, stating that the plane had to return due to “unforeseen operational reasons.”

When contacted by Travel Update UK for a comment, a spokesperson for the airline confirmed that flight LS781 followed standard procedure and returned to Manchester Airport after the crew reported a technical indication.

The spokesperson also assured that passengers would be accommodated on a replacement aircraft to complete their journey to Gran Canaria.
