Back last over Jeremy Hunt’s tourist tax: Travel Industry chiefs call for return of VAT-free shopping.

Opposition is growing from the retail industry, hotels, bars and restaurants over the removal of VAT-free shopping for international tourists.

In the latest intervention, the boss of Bicester Village, above, renewed warnings that Hunt’s tax is driving shoppers away from Britain to European rivals. 

Expect to pay £6 to enter the EU and some will need to fork out £129 to go to the USA.

Bad news for visiting USA. If you’ve travelled to Cuba since March 1, 2011, you can no longer go to the U.S using an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (Esta). Instead of paying £17 for the easy to obtain Esta, such travellers must attend an interview and pay £129 for a visa.

Couple killed in Australia Copter crash named.

The victims of a mid-air collision on Australia’s Gold Coast have been named.

Diane Hughes, 57, and her 65-year-old husband Ron were from Neston, Cheshire. They got wed last year and were on holiday, Queensland Police said.

Their pilot and another passenger also died in Monday’s crash, which happened as one helicopter was taking off from a sandbar and the other was landing.

Three others, including two children, were badly injured and are in hospital.
